Firman Andrew Nelson, age 84, of Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, DE, formerly of Clayton, NJ, passed away on Saturday June 24, 2017.

He attended Clayton Schools in New Jersey from 1944-1952 and Rutger University from 1952-1955 graduating with his degree in Engineering. Firman served in the Army from 1956-1958. Before his retirement, he was an Industrial Engineer with the DuPont Company.

Firman was a member of the DuPont Country Club and the Hockessin United Methodist Church. His favorite pastime was attending his daughter and granddaughters swimming and diving meets and his sons baseball and football games.

Survived by his wife Joan D. Nelson of Hockessin, DE, daughters Caryn S. Nelson, her husband Gary Paiement, of Pennsville, NJ, Sally E. Nelson of Rising Sun, MD, son Steven W. Nelson, his wife Marisa, of Newark, DE, granddaughters Katherine G. Nelson of Newark, DE, Emma G. Nelson of Newark, DE, and their King Charles Cavalier Riley Nelson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Hockessin United Methodist Church, 7250 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, 19707. Visitation with the family will follow the service at the Church in Faith Hall.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Hockessin United Methodist Church Building Fund.
