R. Harold Jenkins, age 95 of Wilmington, DE, died April 21, 2017 at home.

Mr. Jenkins was born in Knoxville, TN and obtained degrees in chemical engineering and business administration from the University of Tennessee, and served as a Naval Officer in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He joined Hercules at the Research Center in 1947. During his 36 year career, he served in a variety of managerial and directorial positions in the US and Europe, including Director of Development for Hercules Europe, Brussels, Belgium from 1968-1973 and Corporate Director of Planning and Acquisitions in Wilmington from 1974-1981.

After retirement, he served as a volunteer reader and as a member of the New Castle Coordinating Committee for Read-Aloud Delaware, as an Executive Committee member of Sojourner's Place, and as a driver, telephone scheduler, and treasurer of the Community Transportation Service.

His wife, Ellen, died in 2007. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. J. Thomas Willison of Indianapolis, IN; four children, David of Salem, NJ, Stephen of Wilmington, Elizabeth of Wilmington, and Michael of New York City, and 6 grandchildren.
