Robert B. Ramsey, Jr. "Bob", passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the conclusion of a life of 96 years that began at Community Hospital in Alamosa, Colorado.

Bob was the second of three children born to the late Robert B. and Lavina Tietz Ramsey. He graduated with honors from Alamosa Jr.-Sr. High School in 1938 and was awarded a 4 year Merit Scholarship to the University of Colorado-Boulder where he majored in chemical engineering. He acquired an appreciation of classical music during his high school and college years while playing the alto and French horns in the school's marching and concert bands and concert orchestra.

Following graduation from University of Colorado, he joined the DuPont Co. as an engineer in Baltimore, MD where he met Eleanor McConnell, his future wife. In 1952, he was assigned to the Kinetic Chemical Marketing Group (later known as the DuPont Freon Products Division) which was the beginning of a 40 year association with the group. His work involved extensive travel in the U.S. and work assignments in Scotland, Switzerland, Italy and Japan. In 1990 he received DuPont's Award for Marketing Excellence. He retired in 1992 after 50 years of service and continued to work for DuPont for another 8 years as a contract employee. He was the holder of several patents and the author of a number of technical papers presented before both national and international symposiums.

During his retirement, bob enjoyed gardening at Bellevue State Park. He was a longtime member of Calvary Episcopal Church, where he served as a vestryman, Jr. and Sr. warden and trustee. He currently was a member of Trinity Episcopal Parish, Wilmington.

He was also a regular attendee, with his late wife, of Saturday evening services at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

Bob is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Eleanor McConnell Ramsey, his sister Mary Louise, his brother, Ora DeBaun Ramsey, his sister-in-law, Beverly Ramsey and his brother-in-law, Philip McConnell. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Seelaus (Jere), a son, Robert B. III (Annette), 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N. Adams Street, Wilmington, DE 19801 where friends may call on the family beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
