Ronald J. Simione, age 75, of Fairfax and a native resident of Wilmington, died Monday October 16, 2017 at Wilmington Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Ron was a Wilmington City police officer for 20 years, earning the Wilmington Kiwanis Club's Policeman of the Year award in 1983, retiring in 1984. He then worked as manager of the credit card fraud department at Delaware Trust Bank until the bank's closure. He then became security manager for St. Francis Hospital for five years. He retired as security manager from Ninewest/Jones of NY in 2005 to pursue his "career" in golf. Ron was a member of the following: the Wilmington FOP, the Wilmington Association of Retired Police, Elks Lodge 307, and Brandywine Country Club.

Ron graduated in 1960 from H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School where he studied Radio and TV. In 1968, Ron married Stephanie "Pat" Pfeil, his wife of 49 years.

Ron is survived by his wife Pat, his two sons Mark (Michelle) and Steve (Lauren), his sister Carla Duncan, his granddaughters Rachel, Allison, and Jenna. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Stephanie Pfeil, his sister-in-law Teddie Smith (Pfeil) and her husband Bill, four nieces and one nephew, and several great nieces/nephew. He is predeceased by his parents Ottavio and Esther Simione (Donoghue) and his niece Micki Smith.

The family would like to thank the nursing/care staff of Wilmington Hospital ER and ICU for their exceptional care and helpfulness during this difficult time.

A visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike Wilmington, DE 19803 from 6 to 8 pm Friday October 20, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd. Wilmington, DE 19803. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem-Church Rd, Newark, DE 19713.
