Thaddeus (Ted) L. Kolski, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was 88.

He was predeceased by his wife Ann of 47 years. He is survived by his two daughters, Lynda A., of Arden, DE, and Patty A. of Newark, DE; and a sister Eleanor Hopf of Wheaton, IL.

Ted was born in Chicago and attended Lane Technical School. He graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, and earned his Masters degree and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at St. Louis University. He was an avid trumpet player and during the early 1950s had his own band. His love for big band music continued throughout his life.

From 1953-1955, he served in the U.S. Army with the Army Chemical Corps in Aberdeen, MD, where he met Ann. He joined E.I. DuPont de Nemours as a chemist in the Pigments Department in 1956, and spent his entire career with DuPont. Ted was a member of Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity and the American Chemical Society. After retiring from DuPont in 1985, Ted and his wife were antique dealers for many years.

The family greatly appreciates the kind care and service provided by Vitas Hospice and Rockland Assisted Living, where Ted resided for the last four years.

Friends may call at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will be private.
