Thomas Anthony Driscoll Jr.

Thomas "Tom" Driscoll Jr., of Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88.

Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas A. Driscoll Sr., and Margaret (Friel) Driscoll. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Driscoll (Sally).

He is a U.S. Navy veteran. Tom worked at the General Electric Plant in Southwest Philadelphia as a facilities and maintenance manager for 32 years. He went on to work 17 years as a maintenance manager for SEPTA Regional Rail.

An avid fan of the Philadelphia sports franchises, Tom and his sons were armchair coaches of the Eagles. He never missed an opportunity to yell his insights and colorful encouragements to the television.

In his later years he enjoyed family barbecues, cruises, and Walt Disney World. He could always be seen walking his trusted companion, Tiny. As he often said, "I had a good life."

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Edwards (Venit) Driscoll, his sister Peggy Mills, his children Marlene Driscoll, Thomas A Driscoll III (Bonnie), Richard Driscoll (Sandy), Michael Edwards, and Marge Ellwein. He has twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family would like to express their appreciation to Compassionate Care Hospice, in particular, Nurse Michelle, and Yevette for their outstanding care.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 1:00 to 3 PM at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike Wilmington, DE 19807. Interment will be private.
