Thomas E. Parmenter, age 95, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Season's Hospice.

Thomas was born in Portland, Maine in 1922, the son of the late Leclare and Esther Parmenter. He enrolled at the University of Maine in 1940 to study Chemical Engineering and joined Army ROTC. He was called up for Active Duty during his junior year and served in the Army during WWII from 1943-1945. He returned to the University of Maine in 1945 and graduated in 1948 with his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, he worked for DuPont from 1948-1961 in the Textiles Division. He then embarked on a new career path; attending the Wharton School of Business in 1963 and began working for Wilmington Trust Company in 1964. He retired from Wilmington Trust as a Vice President in 1983. After retirement, he was very active and enjoyed working part-time as a tour bus driver and garden guide at the Nemours mansion for many years.

He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Ruth, in 2013. He is survived by his son, Tom Parmenter of Rising Sun, MD; daughter Sandy Orsetti of Wilmington; daughter, Judy Scrimenti of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Brian, Eric, Adam and Nathan; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Ella Rae.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
