Michael Harasika, Jr., age 69 of Wilmington, DE died on Wednesday March 21, 2012 while in St. Francis Hospital.

Michael was a graduate of Chester High School '61, University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering '67, and Widener University (formerly PMC) with an MBA. He was in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Philadelphia. He then worked as a process engineer at the Texaco Refinery in Westville, NJ for 17 years, Coastal Refinery for 2 years, and at the Delaware City refinery as an environmental engineer until his retirement in 2002.

As a teenager, he was a Pennsylvania state archery champion and was a member of Penn-Del Archery which he helped build along with his father. He was also a member of Field and Stream and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Michael loved being on his boat or at his beach house with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elaine; son Michael III of Wilmington, DE; twin daughters, Terri Cothern of Ringgold, GA and Kimberly Harasika of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Kayla and Shanhen Gentry, Luke and Jack Harasika, Elena and Will Cothern; and sister Carole Harasika of Folsom, PA.

Friends may call on Sunday March 25 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and Monday March 26 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOMES, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Divine Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Monday March 26, 2012 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 800 W. Lea Blvd, #801, Wilmington, DE 19802. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
