Debra Ann Buenaga, age 53, of Greenville, DE, formerly of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL died on Saturday, November 10, 2012.
Debbie was born in New York City, the daughter of Joan and the late Al DiMarco. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart for 12 years and went on to earn her BA from Georgetown University, her MS Special Education from Fordham University, and her MS Educational Administration from Columbia University. She was a member of Girls on the Run, Inc. and Georgetown University Admissions Program.
Debbie married her husband, Ed, in 1989 and moved to San Francisco where she gave birth to their first child, Kaitlin. The family moved back to the east coast where their second daughter, Allison, was born. A relocation to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL a few years later allowed Debbie to embrace the year round warm weather. One final relocation to Wilmington, DE in 2007 brought Debbie much joy by the warm reception the family received from neighbors and new found friends in the area. Her love for teaching led her to the Pilot School where she taught for the past four years. Her dedication to the students and passion to make a difference in their lives was her driving goal.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband of 23 years, Ed, her two daughters Kaitlin 21, who attends the College of William and Mary, and Allison 19, who attends the University of Florida; her mother Joan DiMarco of Wilmington, DE; sisters Deidre McPadden and Wendy Connuck, both of Yardley, PA; 10 nieces, 7 nephews, 7 brothers-in-law, and 5 sisters-in-law.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 16th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's on the Brandywine Catholic Church, 10 Old Church Road Greenville, DE 19807. A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Girls on the Run Inc. in Debbie Buenaga's name,
