John “Jack” Robert Trotter, age 33, died on August 10, 2010, courageously and boldly living with epidermolysis bullosa since birth. His memory will be cherished by his mother Mary Mellon Trotter of Hockessin, father Robert and Jean Trotter of Wilmington, brother Michael Glen Trotter and wife Swathi Vijayaraghavan of Philadelphia, brother-in-law Anush Vijayaraghavan of Jersey City, and his loving companion and friend Dianna Miller of Glasgow. He is also survived by his devoted friends, many aunts, uncles and cousins. His life and that of his family was blessed with extraordinary caregivers, physicians of multiple specialties, nurses, and aides who creatively and compassionately supported his choice to pursue his life goals.

Nothing could stop Jack from doing what he wanted to do. His passion for airplanes and flying began as a 12 year old when he flew in the copilot seat of a single-engine plane over Kitty Hawk, NC. His dream was realized when he completed his first solo flight in 1995 while attending Sanford School in Hockessin (Class of 1996). He achieved his private pilot license and college degree in Aviation Management from Wilmington University in 2000. He then prospered in his dream job with MBNA’s Aviation Department in New Castle, Delaware. After six wonderful years at the hangar he transitioned to Bank of America’s Support Services department until the last two years of his life.

Jack brightened the lives of those around him with his wonderful sense of humor and hearty laugh. He enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family and was ever the entertainer. He was never afraid to be himself and strive for the impossible. He will be forever remembered with joy and love.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday August 14, 2010 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMRF) at 8909 W. Olympic Blvd. #222, Beverly Hills, CA 90211 or to DebRA of America,Inc. 16 East 41st Street, 3rd floor New York, NY 10017.
