William Read Tallant died suddenly from a heart attack on March 2, 2012. He was born in Wilmington, DE in 1950. He received his elementary education at the Tatnall School before moving to Summit, N.J. There he was graduated from Summit High School in 1968. Bill pursued his college degree at the University of Delaware and the University of South Carolina. He obtained his pilot license from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in 1975, where he was also an instructor. Bill worked as a corporate pilot in the oil industry and also as a computer engineer.
Bill was a man with a big heart and great sense of humor. He never met a stranger in his life. He loved to fly, cook, and work with computers and did so with real passion. Bill was a family man who loved his role as father of twin sons.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, Richard Huntington Tallant and Nancy Read Albright, his step father C. Monroe Albright, his brother Thomas Huntington Tallant, all formerly of Wilmington, DE, his aunt Anne Mason Rump and her husband Ellis Samuel Rump, Jr. formerly of West Chester, PA, and his aunt Barbara Frankhauser formerly of Fort Worth, IN.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Huston Tallant and his wife Leslie of New Orleans, LA and Daniel Bender Tallant and his wife Emily of Houston, TX and their mother Linda Huston Tallant; his partner Kathy Marston of Owasso, OK; his sister Anne Warren Scott and her husband W. Wade W. Scott and their children, Charles Mason Scott and Read Tallant Scott of Wilmington; his nephew Robert Michael Tallant of Brandon, MI; his step brother, Clayton Monroe Albright and his wife, Eleanor and their children, Alexandra and Clayton of Wilmington; his first cousins Nancy Geryk and her husband, Scott of Philadelphia, PA, Cynthia Kelsey and her husband, Michael of Wilmington and their children Anne Mason and Eleanor, James M. Rump of West Chester, PA and Samuel W. Rump of West Chester, PA and his children, Adelaid Rockewell and her husband Jeffery, and Mason Rump; and his uncle Charles Frankhauser of Fort Worth, IN.
Interment will be private in Owasso, OK in April. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware, 669 S. Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
